Music is a saviour. Music keeps me sane. I live for music. I wake up with music and finish the day with music. When I don't have the chance to listen to any music for whatever reasons it maybe, it does give me the serenity of quiet, calm and peaceful. I usually listen to music to get myself distracted, especially in a crowded and unknown places. It is the perfect time to slowly sail away and get lost in your own thought..

I think the type of music genre I’ve been listening to grow with me, while some stay for a very long time, suffice to say that my taste hasn’t change, and yet has evolve into a much wider variety and exciting sounds. As I grow older, I opened up and listened to more type of genre, where it made me realize that my ultimate cuppa tea is still rock and roll.

I remember when I was very young, my family and I were always on an 8-hour road trip to visit my late grandmother in another city in Malaysia. At some highways, we will lose coverage of the radio connections due to the thick jungle along the way. During this time, my dad will always put on his favourites from Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, Dire Strait, Scorpions to The Beatles, and many more CDs, so to keep him company during the long trip.

My Papa’s favourite band

My music evolution then continues during high school, remembering loving Take That so much and memorizing almost all of their hits, and then the Backstreet Boys too. At the same time, I was also listening to Metallica, and like every teenagers of my generations at the time, I have also been listening to Silverchair, Cake, Supergrass etc.

High School Sweetheart

I also had my fair share of going crazy over rave and house music during my uni days. I've been to gigs and clubs and festival. It was cool, or at least I think it was. Again, this time, I was listening to Incubus, My Chemical Romance, Muse, etc., still staying true to rock and roll.

Brandon Boyd…Yum!

Somehow, my relationships present and past, play a huge part in genre of music I’ve been listening to. Perhaps we all found each other as I share the same music sentiments with almost all of them. When you share your music and learn others, it grows. Your idea of music change and evolve together with the music you’re currently listening to.

Spotify, as good as the app is, it algorithm unfortunately is not the best. It has been giving me the same top mix songs year in year out, purely because the algorithm is not broad enough to allow other suggestions or recommendations, hence ended up with the same circles, over and over again.

Currently, my music is much more diversify and “adult”, although one thing for sure, I am not a fan of any latest music. I haven’t been listening to any commercialized radio for many many years now, so its fair to say that my knowledge about any latest music or musicians, is zero to none! I am honestly not bothered at all.

It is not arrogant, it is simply not important!

My all time favs include RATM..Enjoy!
